Artist’s comments
My alma mater’s holistic programme meant that we were thoroughly indulged with weekly performances. Even after I graduated, I continued to attend my younger cousin’s dance recitals and once, we had no idea which dancer she was. Hair pulled back in a tight bun, costumed and professionally made up, they looked the same. It was impossible to identifying the girl you’re there for.
To us cousins, we made a big joke out of it. We flooded the extended family chat with our jovial ‘Where’s Wally’ attempts and when we did spot her, we doodled over her image.
But, what if the familial ties we were teasing and pulling on were not as tight? Would they fray from the stress? Who would take greater blame?
