Artist’s comments
My experiments with long exposures with ISO 100 at near-midnight produced just this one usable shot. The image was still, eerie yet frenetic at the same time. The road marking ‘AHEAD’ is the sole explicit element that dominates and binds the scene together. As I processed the image, I wondered about the driver who had probably just started his night shift, recalling all the late-night conversations I’ve had with taxi uncles, and the prick of surprise, shame and sympathy when some of them transformed into more than a Taxi Uncle in a 20-minute conversation between strangers.
